The MP168 was produced beginning in Summer 2009 and ceased production in the Fall of 2010.

It was a breakthrough product for NGA, achieving sub-half-MOA accuracy, truly neutral muzzle control, especially light, smooth recoil and continued to prove all of the benefits of ceramic coating.  It proved reliable in adverse weather conditions, required very little maintenance and even ran without oil for many thousands of rounds trouble-free.  Some people still run oil-free and without cleaning, but we no longer recommend that approach, since a little care will extend the life of the parts significantly.

Like all NGA AR-15's to date, the MP168 relies on the tried and true direct gas impingement operating system and reduces the fouling issue through the use of ceramic coatings inside the action.

Several customers reported 3/8 minutes of angle (MOA) accuracy at 100 yards and provided photos or verification by witness. That's 3/8's of an inch scatter in a 5-round group. It was capable of accurately firing bullet weights from 55 to 77 grains, consistently hitting small targets out to 1000 yards.  It is important to remember that this accuracy and range are accomplished with a military-grade carbine length format equivalent to the M4 and not a special purpose, long barrel gun.

We always get a kick out of watching people shoot the MP168 for the first time, since only a few in the world have ever personally fired such a well-behaved military caliber rifle.

The trigger was a specialized version made by Jard.  It featured 4 lb pull, crisp break, short reset and allowed very fast and accurate multi-taps.  The trigger was a single stage traditionally designed type.
